The '''Great Reset''', also known as '''Attempt 3''' and '''Attempt 2.5''', was a server recovery plan drawn up by [[nc77812]] in response to the major decline in activity following the [[February 2023 lag incident]]. The project was launched on February 18, 2023, with an announcement by nc77812 released to mark its launch. The project's stated aim is to facilitate recovery from the inactivity crisis in a way which prioritizes long-term sustainability.

Server owner nc77812 described three core components of the Great Reset: the complete reset of the server map, to sweep away the issues that were beginning to set in, the maintenance of a "much simpler format", to remain true to the server's founding principles, and the disallowance of griefing.

The Great Reset, and the server administration more generally, has been criticized by [[some commentators|JamesTestPlayer]] for defying previous precedent and bypassing the established [[Referendum|referendum system]], at the expense of those who may have spent large amounts of time on the old map. The administration's response is that such extreme measures were necessary to prevent the server from falling into a prolonged state of inactivity, on the basis that the wellbeing of the server can override precedent and existing institutions.
