==Fields== When using the template, it is not necessary to delete any fields that are not being used. Most fields are optional; if no data is supplied, the row will simply not appear once the page is saved. ===Author=== The name of the group or author in plain text only. Use an internal link or [[Wikipedia:Piped link|piped]] internal link to the main article about the author. For help with internal links, see the [[Wikipedia:Editing FAQ#How do I make links?|Editing FAQ]]. This field is mandatory. ===Image=== An image of the author, sufficiently clear for display at a width of 200 pixels. Enter the image name, e.g., {{xt|Example.png}}, not {{!xt|File:Example.png}} or {{!xt|<nowiki>[[File:Example.png|200px|abc]]</nowiki>}}. Images used should ideally be free images; that is, not subject to copyright restrictions. If no free image is available it may be possible to use a non-free image under a claim of fair use, provided the image meets Wikipedia's non-free content criteria (for more information see [[WP:NFCC]] and [[WP:NFC]]). ===Caption=== Caption for the image to be displayed. Do not link years in the caption e.g. '''do not''' link <nowiki>[[2007]]</nowiki>. ===alt=== Alt text is used to give a description of what constitutes the image for those who cannot display or see images. See [[WP:ALT|WP:ALT for more information on alternative text for images]]. ===Types of releases=== There are individual fields for the various types of releases (books, novels, articles, stories, collections, pamphlets, poems, comics, plays, scripts, music, journals, letters, translations, editorbook, editorperiodical, editornewspaper, editorreference). In each field place the number of each type that the author has released. Use only numeric values in these fields. For other types of releases, see ''Advanced usage'' below. *'''Books''' are non-fiction works - [[memoir]]s and [[biography|biographies]], [[journalism]], most political writing, etc. *'''Novels''' are fictional book-length works and [[novella]]s *'''Articles''' can include [[op-ed]]s, book reviews, or [[essay]]s; these are all non-fiction. These might be published in [[periodical]]s, [[academic journal]]s, or possibly on the Internet, but generally not as stand-alone publications. *'''Stories''' are short fictional pieces that are published in periodicals and [[anthology|anthologies]]. *'''Collections''' is intended for works that compile several other pieces by the author, such as short story collections or a compilation of poetry. *'''Pamphlets''' are non-fiction works that are longer than essays but shorter than books. They are published as individual pieces, often in limited print runs or for [[Book sales club|book club]]s. *'''Poems''' this field is intended for listing individual poems and verse. *'''Comic''' this parameter includes all kinds of [[comic book]]s - including monthly series as well as [[Trade paperback (comics)|trade paperback]]s. *'''Plays''' are [[stage play]]s and drama intended for theater *'''Scripts''' can be teleplays written for film, television, or [[radio serial]]s. *'''Music''' includes all musical compositions of the author. If an author is also a prolific musician, you may want to include a brief section on his or her musical endeavors and then link to a [[discography]]. *'''Interviews''' are public discussions that are then transcribed for publication. *'''Journals''' are private diaries that are generally published [[List of works published posthumously|posthumously]]. *'''Letters''' can include individual correspondence, but it is more likely that such writing will be collected posthumously. *'''Translations''' are works that the author has translated, not translations of his or her works. *'''Editorbook''' is intended for books that the author has edited - these will often include a prefatory or introductory note by the author as well *'''Editorperiodical''' is for any regular publications that the author edited, including [[magazine]]s or academic journals *'''Editornewspaper''' is a similar field for [[newspaper]]s *'''Editorreference''' is intended for any reference works the author edited, including [[dictionary|dictionaries]], [[atlas]]es, and [[encyclopedia]]s
